Urpolan Kartano & Viking Sauna World

The Art Nouveau-inspired main building of Urpolan Kartano was built in 1924 as a family home for a household of five. Shortly after its completion, however, the house was left empty for a period, later serving as a summer camp and quarters for local workers.
After various phases in its history, the manor was carefully restored and opened as a restaurant in 1984. For over two decades, the original hosts, Ulla-Maija and Ilkka Kylämarkula, welcomed guests to the estate. Leena and Mikko Kylämarkula then carried on the family tradition starting in 2005, until handing over the reigns to the next generation in 2027.  Jaakko Kylämarkula and Heidi Kauremaa proudly host the estate and welcome guests to Urpolan Kartano manor.
In addition to hospitality, Urpolan Kartano continues to operate as an active agricultural and forestry estate today.

Located in the main courtyard, the estate offers 6 log cabin apartments alongside 7 unique rooms set within a beautifully restored historic barn building. Whether you are visiting for a holiday or a special celebration, you can immerse yourself in the country romantic atmosphere and rich history of the surroundings.

Urpolan Kartano is home to the world’s only Viking Sauna World, where you can experience up to seven unique saunas, including an authentic smoke sauna and a treehouse sauna. The sauna complex features a Viking ship hot tub and a natural spring-fed swimming pond perfect for a refreshing dip. Showcasing sustainable craftsmanship, the main building and smoke sauna were built using firewood logs and clay from the pond.
